The divers observe the occurrence of different species on the ground . What is observed is recorded either on site or analyzed retrospectively based on photographs, videos or samples collected by divers . Often noted the observationdepth, position along the transect line and the sampled surface along the transect line . The methods vary greatly. For each species are presented : measurements : how many there are in a given area (Abundance , Abundance Class), how many are counted (# Counted), the proportion of ground covered (% Cover, Cover Class) or the maximum depth it grew on (Species distribution and maximum depth) .
